Where do you hold your lessons?
I hold lessons in the convenience of your own home.
How much do you charge for your teaching services?
My rates are $41.25/45mins & $55/60mins. This includes the cost of going to your home.
Do you have specific teaching qualifications?
I have my Bachelor's degree in piano from the University of Victoria and a piano pedagogy diploma from the Victoria Conservatory of Music, as well as a performance diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. I especially enjoy teaching young beginners and RCM theory!
Do I need to have a piano to practice on at home?
Yes, it is crucial to have a instrument at home for the development of music learning. A tuned acoustic piano is best, however electric keyboards for beginners are understandable. Feel free to ask the teacher to see the instrument for approval.
Will the parent(s) be involved in the learning process of the student?
Parents may sit in on the lesson if they wish to. Support and encouragement is very important, especially during practice sessions at home. Consistent practice is key to learning so it is advised that there is a strict, scheduled time as to when the student practices, for example, before dinner or after school.
What if I miss a scheduled music lesson?
If a student misses a lesson for any reason, the student may arrange a makeup lesson--if the teacher's schedule allows--within 30 days. If not, you will be credited 30% of the missed lesson fee towards the next month up to the maximum of 3 times in the school year. Thereafter, there will be no credits or makeup lessons offered as consistent weekly lessons ensure progress of the student's learning.
What if we planned holiday and vacations in advance?
Please let the teacher know well in advance prior to family vacations or school trips if they do not occur within the Holiday Break timeframes, or will be counted as missed lessons.
Snow Days
In the case of not being able to travel to your home for lessons, unfourtunately I wont be able to issue credits as snowfall is out of my control. But I will offer skype lessons to all students, which is each one's choice whether to take advantage of.
