All about me

Jane Hou has studied piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music examinations since she was young, taking lessons from Maureen Hollins in Surrey. She earned a Bachelor of Music Degree as a piano major at the University of Victoria, studying with May Ling Kwok.

Before going into university, Jane studied piano performance at the Victoria Conservatory of Music (VCM) under Dr. Jamie Syer. In 2012, Jane was the recipient of the Robin and Winifred Wood Scholarship. At the VCM, she attended many master classes with Robert Holliston, Walter Prossnitz and Winifred Wood. There, she also studied music harmony with reknowned Canadian conductor and composer Stephen Brown.

Jane holds an ARCT diploma in performance and an AVCM diploma with First Class Honours in piano pedagogy and literature. She has a patient and upbeat approach to teaching and strives to build relationships with her students through fun lessons, competitions and festivals.

Jane currently teaches at her home studio in Coquitlam.
